APPLICATION PROCESS AND FORMS
1. Lodging applications with the Board
Applications are processed on an ongoing basis, a response is typically provided with four weeks of receipt.
2. Information on approved courses in psychology for registration purposes.
Applicants for provisional registration must demonstrate they hold a four-year sequence of study in psychology acceptable to the Board. It is necessary to hold an undergraduate degree with a major in psychology (including first, second and third year psychology subjects) plus a recognised fourth year.
If you are applying for full registration you must demonstrate the above qualifications and in addition you must hold a higher degree in psychology, such as Masters of Clinical Psychology. Alternatively you may have completed two years of practical experience in psychology.
The Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) sets the standards for accreditation of Australian psychology programs. APAC approved courses in psychology are listed on the APAC website www.apac.psychology.org.au
In addition to the APAC approved course list, the NSW Psychologists Registration Board recognises a number of psychology courses. DOWNLOAD
3. Application Forms for Registration
Please read the following descriptions to select the correct application form.
FORM A1 Application Provisional Registration as a Psychologist
Applicants for provisional registration must hold a 4 year sequence of study in psychology as described in point 2 above. Applicants seeking registration via a supervision plan (undertaking supervised practice within an organisation) or enrolment in a higher degree in psychology. DOWNLOAD
FORM P1 Provisional Registration Psychology Placement and Supervision Program
Submit this form at start of program and each time there is a change of Principal Supervisor OR change of placement. DOWNLOAD
FORM P2 External Supervisor Approval by Placement Agency
For new applicants and current interns completing a supervision plan whose supervisor is located outside of placement. DOWNLOAD

FORM A3 Application for Registration as a Psychologist
Under 2006 guidelines ONLY Where the applicant holds current provisional registration with the Board on completion of a supervision plan or higher degree. DOWNLOAD
Application for Registration as a Psychologist
Where the applicant does not hold current provisional registration with the Board or has overseas qualifications and experience. DOWNLOAD

Application for registration under Mutual Recognition or Trans Tasman Mutual recognition
This applies to psychologists registered in another state or territory in Australia (other than New South Wales) or in New Zealand. DOWNLOAD
Application for Temporary Registration as a Psychologist
Temporary Registration can be issued to an applicant who is not normally a resident in New South Wales or Australia for the purpose of enabling the person to carry out educational or research activities (eg. presenting a one time event or seminar) or such other activities as the Board considers to be in the public interest.
