LEGISLATION

The Board operates under the provisions of the Psychologists Act 2001 and associated Regulation. These documents are available from SALMAT. You can contact this service on 1300 656 986.

The Psychologists Act defines ‘professional misconduct’, sets down the minimum requirements for registration, allows the Board to establish a Code of Conduct and provides the mechanism by which complaints can be made against psychologists.

The Board also concerns itself with the provisions of the Health Care Complaints Act, the Mutual Recognition Act and the Freedom of Information Act.
