CODE OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

Code of Professional Conduct (1 November 2004)

The Minister for Health, the Hon. Mr Morris Iemma MP has approved the Code of Professional Conduct dated 1 November 2004 (“ the Code ”) in accordance with section 19, Psychologists Act 2001.

The Code which commenced on the 1 November 2004 replaces the Code of Ethical Conduct (1997) and provides a new standard for ethical practice of psychologists in New South Wales.

The Code provides guiding principles, and minimum standards that should be observed by registered psychologists in their professional practice and guides the interpretations relevant to Part 4 of the Psychologists Act 2001 (Complaints and Disciplinary Proceedings.)

The objective of the Code, moreover, aims to provide principles and guidelines which should be observed by registered psychologists in their professional practice and to which psychologists must adhere so as to ensure that neither intentional nor unintentional harm to clients results from psychological practice.
