Authorisation as a Supervisor

and

Supervision Workshops for Psychologists

In January 2006, the Board introduced a requirement that supervisors of intern psychologists completing the 2 year supervision program must be authorised by the Board.  At that time and as an interim measure, the Board granted provisional authorisation as a supervisor to eligible psychologists in order that they could continue to supervise intern psychologists and they were required to attend a supervision workshop prior to December 2007.

Since January 2008 there has been an on-going demand for supervisors of intern psychologists. So as to not disadvantage intern psychologists, the Board has determined to grant an additional period of provisional authorisation as a supervisor until the 31 August 2008.  Provisionally authorised supervisors are required to attend a supervision workshop prior to the 31 August 2008 in order to continue to supervise beyond that date.

Psychologists who are registered in NSW, are in good standing with the Board and who have been fully registered for a minimum of 3 years are eligible to be granted full authorisation to practice as a supervisor when they successfully complete a Board approved 2 day supervision workshop.

The Board has approved Dr Daphne Hewson to lead a consortium of workshop presenters to provide supervision workshops for 2008.  For information about the supervision workshops including workshop registration details, go to:
